Blanch Audio Research has one singular goal in mind: to create affordable and quality digital signal processors (DSPs) for home theaters!
For simple home theater filtering like Bass-EQ (BEQ), the MiniDSP 2x4HD is the industry standard... but it's outrageously expensive and way overkill! It is possible to achieve great Bass-EQ results using a smaller, cheaper, and simpler device. As an electrical engineer, I knew that I could create a reasonably priced alternative to the MiniDSP that is still capable of giving low end bass some additional oomf during action movies.
Make no mistake, the Room Shaker is not a replacement for the MiniDSP 2x4HD. It is significantly less powerful and lacks the heritage and widespread support. But it works great for those of us that allow the AVR to handle subwoofer calibration and just need a tool to tweak the low end and recover the low frequency content that is filtered out of major studio releases.
